Workforce Development Education

Application Process

To be considered for admission to the Workforce Development program, all application materials must be in place by the following deadlines:

For Fall admission: Aug. 1
For Spring admission: Dec. 1
For Summer admission: May 1 (For Summer Session V)

June 1 (For Summer Session VI)

Admission Requirements:

To be accepted into the program, an applicant must meet at least one of the following requirements:

  1. Minimum GPA of 3.0 on all coursework attempted prior to receipt of a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education;

    OR
  2. If GPA is between a 2.7 and a 3.0 on the last 60 credit hours of attempted coursework, applicant may be considered for admissions by special consideration, which includes satisfactory scores on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) General Test or an equivalent examination.     OR
  3. A conferred post-baccalaureate degree (excluding professional degrees) from a regionally accredited institution of higher education.
To apply for admission:
  1. Download an Application for Admission from the Graduate School at:

    http://www.uark.edu/depts/gradinfo/forms/student/appl-admission.pdf

    The completed application form must designate your intended area of study and your intended area of concentration:
    • Intended area of study (WDED)
    • Intended area of concentration (HRDE or ADED)
  2. Request that two official transcript(s) from every undergraduate institution you have attended be sent directly to you in a sealed envelope. Do not open the envelope.
  3. Include Application Fee ($40 check or money order payable to the University of Arkansas; $50 for international students).
  4. Send these items (the completed application, fee payment and sealed official transcripts) in one packet to the Graduate School at:

Note: Your file cannot be processed until the Graduate School has received all official transcripts.

Once the admissions packet has been received by Graduate Admissions, applicants will be notified by the Graduate School in approximately two to three weeks by mail or e-mail. If you have not heard back within three weeks of submission of application, please contact the Graduate School Admissions office at (479) 575-6246. Please do not contact the College of Education and Health Professions or the Workforce Development Education program.

WDED Admission Review

Once an applicant's packet is complete, the Graduate School will notify the applicant that the packet has bee forwarded to the Workforce Development Education program for consideration.

The WDED program admissions committee will review each application and base acceptance on a number of factors that include:

Only applications that are received by Aug. 1 for fall admission, Dec. 1 for spring admission, May 1 for summer session I, and June 1 for summer session II will be considered. There will be no exceptions made for late applicants.

Applicants will be notified as soon as possible after these dates regarding their admission status.

At that time, students who have been accepted to the program will be mailed a document that details advising and registration information.
