Technology Education Faculty
Technology education faculty members are dedicated to providing learning experiences that make a difference in the lives of our students — and, the lives of their future students! Although small in numbers, our talented faculty offers an unparalleled range of experiences, with backgrounds in diverse areas of career and technical education and leadership experiences across the entire public school system.
Dr. Michael Daugherty, Ed.D.

Dr. Daugherty is chairman of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction and coordinator of the technology education program. Daugherty speaks nationally and internationally on technological literacy, standards, and curriculum development. Daugherty is serving as a "Standards Specialist" for the Technology for All Americans Project. In that capacity, Daugherty has shared his vision for education in numerous universities, colleges, and schools both nationally and internationally.
In 2001, Daugherty was recipient of the "Technology Teacher Educator of the Year" award by the International Council on Technology Teacher Education and the "Award of Distinction" by the International Technology Education Association in 2004. Daugherty is the editor of eight books, author of four refereed book chapters, 26 refereed journal articles, and 30 additional journal articles.

Charles Rossetti, M.Ed.
Mr. Rossetti is an instructor of the technology education program in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in technology education and Career and Technical Education and is active in recruiting students for technology education and career and technical education programs.
Mr. Rossetti has 19 years of experience as a high school instructor in building trades, computer aided drafting and design and as the lead teacher in an engineering and architectural academy. He has been an advisor in SkillsUSA for over 25 years and received the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2006. Mr. Rossetti was the Arkansas State VICA Advisor of the Year and Region V National Representative in 1996, the Arkansas Teacher of the Year in 1998 and received the Arkansas Pioneer Award for Technical and Professional Education in 1999. He has presented and state and national conferences including the International Reading Association in 1998.

Dr. Betsy Orr, Ed.D.
Dr. Orr is associate professor and coordinator of the business education program in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in business education and workforce development education. Dr. Orr is the sponsor of Delta Pi Epsilon, Gamma Pi.
With a focus on career and technical education, Orr’s expertise has been published frequently in professional journals, and she has presented papers and workshops at numerous conferences and meetings, internationally, nationally and in the state. She was recognized as the department’s outstanding teacher in 1994 and 1998 and as outstanding researcher in 2000. Other honors include being named as the Arkansas Business Teacher Educator of the Year for 1997. Dr. Orr served as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs from 2000–2005.

Dr. Cecelia Thompson, Ph.D.

Dr. Thompson is professor and coordinator of the Family and Consumer Sciences Program in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in career and technical education and workforce development education. She is a member of the University of Arkansas Teaching Academy and has been honored twice with the Outstanding Teaching Award for the College of Education and Health Professions.
Dr. Thompson is editor of the Journal of Family and Consumer Sciences Education, a journal published by the National Association of Family and Consumer Sciences Education.
